How does a designer take a drawing and then make it into a 3-D object?

Some one on the other threads said that they use wax and make a was model of it... Other then that I would assume a Computer Graphic program...

I know that my daughter makes wax moulds and somehow pours the gold or silver into the mould. It seems complicated to my mind, but for her it comes very easily.

It depends on who is making the jewelery.
I made a necklace in Brazil and went to the shop where they put the necklace together.
They had some pre-formed pieces where you would put the diamonds in.
He arranged them into the design that I liked.
Then, the jeweler sprayed some coating to hold it together and piece by piece soldered each little gold thing together.
