My mother loves Jade

Postby insanescott on Wed Mar 26, 2008 4:01 am

While I know this is not a gemstone or even a precious stone for that matter, I didn't know where else to post. I was wondering where to find some nice Jade pieces for my mother. Her birthday is right around the corner. Thanks.

where do you live? If you're in NY.. you can check out 47th Street or Chinatown. Even near 32nd St (Koreatown).. Asian jewelers will have lots of interesting pieces. Hope that helps!

I suggest checking around your town or neighboring towns. A lot of towns have bead shops that you can buy real jade stones. They also have classes or some may even show you for free how to make them into earrings or necklaces. I think if your mother loves Jade she would love a homemade piece of jewelry from you with Jade in it!! Check it out ;)

Maybe even if you search on ebay, you might be able to find some great vintage pieces. :)

When buying jade, especially bracelets made completely from jade, the quality of the stone is determined by how cloudy looking the jade is, the more cloudy the better.

Chinatown has interesting pieces but you have to check cloudiness to make sure it's not a counterfeit.

I love jade too, but I'm also curious for what exactly Jade is.

If you have a China Town near you maybe take a peak in there. I love jade as well.
