I use this method quite a bit on sterling silver, but never on gold. To me it's easier to take it to a store and have them do it.

I've heard that toothpaste is the best way to clean opals. I have a ring that belonged to my grandmother that's really dirty. Is it safe to clean with toothpaste?

A tube of DIDI7 will last you about 3 years, if you only want to clean your jewelery.
It only costs about $5.

Buying this would probably be easier and less abrasive to your precious jewelery.

My mother has been doing this for years also and our jewelery looks just as good. I'm not sure there is facts that it really do much harm to it.

And I prefer AquaFresh, so the jewelry smells minty fresh.

I use it for silver as well but stay away from using it on anything that has soft stones. Heard somewhere it may scuff the surface so for that I just bring it to a jeweler.
