My friends Ring

Here is a photo of my friends ring. It's a 3/4karat Diamond in the middle and I think 1/8 on each side of the middle diamond. It's a tulip holder holding the middle diamond. It was made custom at a Kays Jeweler I believe. At first she really liked the diamonds on the side of the big diamond but now after having it for a few years she has told me the small diamonds on the sides takes away from the big diamond in the middle. She now perfers single diamond rings.

I would have to agree with your friend about the smaller diamonds taking away from the larger one. My engagement ring is much the same as hers. Mine however has the smaller diamonds arranged in a small triangle on either side instead of a straight line like hers. I would much have preferred tohave had a single larger diamond solitaire, but I certainly wouldn't tell my fiance that now LOL.

I think that most girls really appreciate the size of the diamond more than anything else.
Rather than spending more money on clarity, which you can only see under a microscope, you should go for a bigger diamond.

That said, nothing under SI2 is really good.
The diamonds look chipped, etc.

Color is important and so is the size.
I also noticed that brilliance and shine really make a difference when comparing diamonds side by side. Excellent is required.

I agree, too. I sometimes wish I'd taken the money I've spent on rings with multiple small stones and put it all toward a nice, big single stone. I've vowed to stop buying items with bunches of small diamonds. Except for the pearl ring I just bought. :) It has a pearl surrounded by 12 1 point diamonds. I just love the combination and I think it's an asset to the pearl to have some sparkle around it.

That said, I have a ring that has channels on either side of the main stone. They're decorative, so the ring looks fine without any additional diamonds in the channels. Lately I've been giving some thought to having some smaller diamonds set on either side of the main stone. I'm glad you posted this, because it's made me realize I may nave to rethink that idea. Plus, save the money I would have spent on side stones!

I agree re; the clarity. Who cares if way down below looking through a microscope there is a little glitch. Mine has one and you would never know it. I'm all for going with the larger diamond!

I like your friends ring. I must be unique as I really don't like bigger diamonds. Your friends rings is gorgeous though.
