Real diamonds cut glass! I would not recommend this, but it does work!

Some of the manmade diamonds I own actually look better than the real diamonds and of course cost way less. I still prefer real diamonds just for the fact that they are "REAL". It would be nice to have a fake one that looks like your real diamond so when you are on vacation you don't have to take your real ones with you.

My thoughts exactly. There are instances where we do not want to take our expensive jewelry with us however we don't want to be without nice jewelry either.

I also agree, losing your jewelry on the beach or having it stolen out of you motel room would be much less painfull if it was fake and you knew you had the real jewelry in safe keeping.

You might want to look at Moissanite. It's a naturally occurring mineral, similar in structure to diamond. The Moissanite used in jewelry is synthetic, so it's more readily available and less expensive. It has some properties in common with diamond and sometimes a special tester is required to tell the difference. It's not as inexpensive as some diamond alternatives but its fire and brilliance is said to make worth the cost. To be on the safe side, I'd look at some stones in person before buying, even if you eventually do buy online.

If given identical looking diamonds, I'd go with the one that costs less...especially if it's even hard for some of you pro's to tell the difference.

It has become almost impossible these days to tell if a diamond is manmade or natural. I think the only difference is in the cost, personally I see nothing wrong with buying a manmade diamond, they are equally as nice.

Ask whoever you are buying it from to cut some glass in front of you with it, if they arent confident enough in their diamond to try it, i wouldnt buy

I get a certificate with every diamond that I buy and there is also a serial number laser etched inside of the diamond. I take all of my jewelry to get appraised.
