Aluminum foil method

Basically, it's just a piece of aluminum foil in warm water and a tbs or so of salt. The salt acts as an electrolyte for the redox reaction. The items are simply soaked in the solution until they seem to be clean.

Have you used this method, has it worked and what do you think about it?

That would be perfect without the yellow gold part and with a blue stone, or maybe green or other shade of red. I can't even imagine wearing that, though, too big for everyday work. For really important occasions, maybe.

My mother had an engagement ring made of birch bark. They're actually quite easy to make, at least the most simple patterns. That is to say, it doesn't always has to be metal.
